ABOUT THE CHEF

Jorge Dominguez was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and immigrated to the United States at the age of ten with his family.  Being raised by both hardworking parents, Jorge spent most of his childhood studying hard and helping around the house to feed his younger sibling.  Since he was always cooking for his family, he began to learn the basics of food and making meals.  Soon, he realized he had a talent for it.

At the age of 16, he started his first job as a dishwasher to help his family.  The restaurant industry was a very competitive and busy job.  Line cooks were always backed up with orders and Jorge would always help them out.  He was always working hard and going above and beyond to help wherever and whenever needed.  Soon, he quickly learned the entire menu and was eventually promoted to be a line cook.  That became the start of Chef Jorge's career.

Chef Jorge has attended several culinary trainings and events where he mastered the art of carving fruits and vegetables into life-like creations. He entertains his crowds at events by displaying fruit and vegetable carvings of flowers, the sun and moon, and many others on display stations. His first big hit was at the Grand Opening of the Palmdale Regional Medical Center in 2010 at his hometown where he executed not one, but three different mixers, including a VIP event.

Being in the hospitality industry for over 30 years., he has developed a culinary mind to see food differently—not just by how good it tastes on one's palate, but through one's vision and smell. He is currently the Executive Chef at the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center and working here allowed him to showcase and utilize some of his own recipes. He is always dedicated to nourishing different types of food and staying as authentic as he can. He combines his Mexican-American heritage to execute some of his best recipes with new trending food recipes from around the world.

Chef Jorge is a family man.  During his personal time, he enjoys going on dinners with his wife, teaching his kids the value of life and that working hard always pays off.  He also teaches them the basic food preparation, baking, and cooking styles so they can have valuable life skills as they grow up and enter the real world as adults.
